Depending on how an employee’s time entry policy is configured, you might be able to waive meals for them in the timesheet.
Role feature access: Timesheets > Meal Waivers
To waive an employee’s meal break:
- Go to Timesheets and load a location.
- Select the shift that you want to waive the meal for, and then click the arrow next to the Edit icon (
) to expand the drop-down list.
- Select Waive Meals. Dayforce waives the meal and the Waived Meal icon (
) is shown on the shift:

To unwaive a meal, select a shift with the waived meal icon, and then select Unwaive Meals in the drop-down list.
Waive Individual Meals
Depending on how an employee’s time entry policy is configured, you might be able to waive more than one meal for them in the timesheet, or waive one of two meals.
To waive one of two meals:
- Go to Timesheets and load a location.
- Select the shift that you want to waive the meal for, and then click the arrow next to the Edit icon to expand the drop-down list:

- Select Waive First Meal or Waive Second Meal. Dayforce waives the meal and the Waived Meal icon is shown on the shift. In the following case, the First Meal Waived icon is shown because Waive First Meal was selected:

To waive two individual meals:
- Go to Timesheets and load a location.
- Select the shift that you want to waive the meals for, and then click the arrow next to the Edit icon to expand the drop-down list.
- Select Waive First Meal and Waive Second Meal. Dayforce waives the meals and the first meal waived and second meal waived icons are shown on the shift:
