The Ruleset Panel

In the left side panel of the Analyze Pay Rules slide-out panel, Dayforce shows all of the rules and qualifiers in the employee’s pay policy ruleset:

Ruleset panel showing rows for each pay rule in the employee's pay policy.

The rows in the ruleset panel are organized hierarchically. You can select an option to view the employee’s earnings before they’re processed by the pay rule engine, or select a specific pay rule to view how that rule affected the employee’s pay, when applicable. Depending on the employee’s pay policy assignment, you can also expand some rules in the panel to view the qualifiers associated with them.

The ruleset panel is organized as follows:

  • Before Rules: Dayforce shows the employee’s base earnings for the day. This represents their pay (for example, earnings from time worked or paid vacation time) before it’s processed by the rule engine.
  • Rules: Dayforce lists all rules in the employee’s pay policy, respecting the ruleset hierarchy. Click a rule and Dayforce shows any changes to the pay summary that the rule initiated.
    • Qualifiers: Dayforce lists any qualifiers associated with the rules in the employee’s pay policy. When a rule is configured with qualifiers, Dayforce nests them below the rule, and they are hidden by default. To view a rule’s qualifiers, click the arrow to expand the rule’s qualifier hierarchy:
    • Cursor hovering over an arrow next to a rule, with the rule's qualifiers expanded below.
    • When you click a qualifier that had its conditions met, Dayforce shows the same updates to the employee’s pay, when applicable, that are shown when you select the qualifying pay rule. When you click a qualifier that didn’t have its conditions met, Dayforce shows a message indicating that the qualifier wasn’t applied.
    • To expand and collapse all rules with nested qualifiers in the panel hierarchy, click Expand All and Collapse All.

Dayforce shows icons beside each rule and qualifier in the ruleset panel. These icons indicate whether the rule or qualifier is active or inactive and can indicate if a rule affected the employee’s pay. You can hover the cursor over an icon and Dayforce shows a tooltip indicating if the rule or qualifier affected the employee’s pay:
