In Task Setup > Task Templates, the Template Properties tab is divided into two sections:

| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Name (required) | Enter a name for the task template. |
| Description (required) | Enter a description of the task template. |
| Hyperlink | Enter the hyperlink that you want associated with the task. Hyperlinks are used to specify accompanying websites that the users reviewing or scheduling the tasks can access for supplemental information. |
| Default Task Status | Select the appropriate default task status. The options are Pending and Assigned. |
| Days Until Due | Enter the number of days new tasks in this template are due after their start date. For task templates with schedule-impacting tasks, enter 0. Tasks that impact schedules must be configured so that they are due on their start date. |
| Priority Level | Enter a number that represents the relative priority level of new tasks created with this template. This number is only for informational and sorting purposes. The higher the priority of a task, the higher it appears in Task Checklist. |
| Zone(s) | Select one or more zones to specify which zones the task must be completed in. Only employees who work in the specified zones can be scheduled to work the task. |
| Zone can be re-assigned | Select this checkbox and tasks created from this template can be re-assigned to different zones after their creation. This checkbox isn’t enabled if the task template is configured to impact schedules. |
| Task Group |
Select an appropriate task group to secure tasks created from the template. With a group selected in the drop-down list, Dayforce secures tasks such that if both the task and a user’s role has a task group assigned, they must have the same task group in order for the user to review and modify the task in Task Management. |
| Task Category | Select an appropriate task category. Task categories are an optional task metric that can be used to further describe or classify the tasks users create and assign. |
| Task Phase | Select an appropriate task phase. Task phases are an optional task metric that can be used to further describe or classify the tasks users create and assign. |
| Task Visible to Superior |
Select this checkbox and tasks created from this template are visible to the task owner’s superior in Task Management. Clear the checkbox and tasks created from this template are visible only to the task owner. Note: A task owner is the manager of the location a task is assigned to. The Task Visible to Superior checkbox allows location managers to create tasks (provided they have access to Task Management) that are visible only to them. |
| Visible to Location Managers | Select this checkbox and tasks created from this template are visible to the managers of the assigned locations in Task Checklist. |
| XRef Code |
Enter a reference code in this field. References codes are used to identify tasks created with this task template. This code must be unique and must not contain special characters. A task template’s reference code can be used in the following ways:

| KPI |
Select a KPI to associate with the task. When a KPI is selected, the task contributes to the KPI’s value. Note: Dayforce shows the KPI drop-down list only if you select Impacts Schedule in the Labor Impact drop-down list. |
| Activity |
Select an activity. When an activity is selected, only employees who are eligible to work that activity can be scheduled to complete the task. Additionally, Dayforce automatically populates task plans with the activity. |
