Depending on how your instance of Dayforce is configured, employees might have scheduled shifts that contain segments (also known as schedule transfers). Schedule transfers are configured by adding segments to shifts in Schedules. A segment represents a portion of the shift where the shift details change for an employee. For example, if an employee transfers between work assignments or is assigned to a different project for a portion of their shift, each change is represented by its own segment.
Role feature access:
- Timesheets > Schedules Segments > Editor
- Timesheets > Schedules Segments > Grid
- Timesheets > Timesheet Transfers from Shift
In Timesheets, users with access to the schedule segments role features can add and edit shifts with segments. When these role features are assigned, Dayforce shows an alternative dialog box when users add and edit a shift:
In this example, the shift contains three segments:
- First segment: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Second segment: 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM
- Third segment: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
When you add a shift containing segments, Dayforce shows the number of segments in the timesheets grid:
