Setting Description
View Type

View options:

  • Coverage View: Dayforce stacks scheduled shifts according to shift start times.
  • Employee View: Dayforce lists employees alphabetically on the view’s left side and shows the number of hours that they’re scheduled each week.
  • Daily Employee View: Similar to the Employee View, but this view shows only employees that are scheduled on the day of the week that you select.

All of the views show shifts as colored bars that stretch from the shift’s start time to its end time.

Secondary Display

Secondary display options:

  • Job Assignment: Dayforce shows employees’ job assignments next to their name.
  • Location Type: Dayforce shows the location type next to the employee name, if one is assigned to the shift.
Display individual availabilities

Show each employee’s availability in its own row. When you clear this checkbox, Dayforce shows only the selected employee’s availability and the watermarks appear across the entire schedule view.

Note: Dayforce enables this checkbox only in the coverage and employee views.

Show Sales Statistics

Show the sales statistics grid below the schedule. Available only if you use the Employee View or Daily Employee View. Additionally, you must configure sales statistics in Dayforce. See Sales Statistics (Schedules only).

Note: Dayforce enables this checkbox only in the coverage and employee views.

Show Interactive Cursor Show additional information on the cursor when you add shifts (for example, the employee’s name, employee number, and job assignment).
Show Segments

Role feature access: Schedules > Enable Segment Display

Show segments in shifts. Segments represent parts of the shift where the shift details change (for example, if an employee works a different activity for a part of their shift).

Segment Details Display The segment details that are shown in shifts. The drop-down list options are Job Assignment, Location Type, Pay Code, Docket, Project, and Labor Metrics.

Grid View Options

The Grid View Options section has settings that you can use to configure the Grid View.

Show employees’ prior shift information based on the configuration of the location’s schedule trend policies in Scheduling Plan > Schedule Trend (Multi Employee).

Autopopulate Meal/Break Before Add

Dayforce automatically adds meals and breaks to shifts in the Add Schedule dialog box, based on the meal and break configuration in the employee’s time entry policy (if applicable).

When you clear the checkbox, Dayforce doesn’t automatically add meals and breaks in the Add Schedule dialog box, and you need to add them manually.

  • Department Name Job Name: Dayforce shows both the department name and the job name.
  • Job Name: Dayforce shows only the job name.

General Options

The General Options section has settings that control how Dayforce shows schedules.

Before You Begin: Depending on how Dayforce is configured, some of these options might be unavailable.

General Options settings
Setting Description
Autoload on Start (Schedules only) Load the upcoming schedule instead of selecting a week and clicking Load.
Reallocate meals and breaks on schedule edits Automatically reschedule, add, or remove meals and breaks when edits to shifts cause the meals and breaks to change. Based on the employee’s time entry policy rules, they might need to have a meal or break at certain intervals. If the shift length changes because of your edits, Dayforce automatically reallocates the required break. For example, if you edit a three-hour shift, which originally didn’t receive a break, so that it’s now six hours long, Dayforce automatically adds a 30-minute meal. Or, if an employee has a break in the last hour of their shift, and you reduce the shift’s duration by an hour, Dayforce moves the break (if the shift still qualifies for it) so that it no longer starts at the end of the shift.
Automatically select an activity for schedule Automatically add the primary activity associated with the shift’s job assignment.
View totals in hours:minutes Show totals as hours and minutes, rather than a decimal value (for example, 37:30). When you clear this checkbox, Dayforce shows totals in decimal format (for example, 37.50).
Indicate Minor Status Show the minor icon () next to employee names in the Grid View if they’re a minor.
Indicate Shared Employees Show the shared employee icon () next to employee names in the Grid View if they’re assigned to the location on a secondary work assignment.
Enable real time calculations Dayforce runs real time calculations and performs schedule validation whenever you make changes to scheduled shifts. Dayforce enables the Recalculate button only when you open the Cost or KPI panels and make changes to the schedule.

Clear the checkbox and Dayforce doesn’t run real time calculations. Dayforce performs schedule validation only when you click Recalculate or Save.

Enable Paging

Client properties: Scheduling > Enable paging (Select the checkbox)

Show employee records across separate pages rather than on a single screen. You can use paging functionality only in the Schedules Grid View. When selected, the other view options are grayed out until you clear the checkbox. When paging is enabled in Schedules, the following changes occur:

  • When filtering shifts, Dayforce includes only shifts on the loaded page when applying your filter criteria.
  • The Problems panel shows only problems concerning shift records on the loaded page.
  • The Clear button becomes the Clear Page.
  • Dayforce limits the copy, move, and swap functions to shifts on the loaded page. For example, you can’t move a shift from the first page to the third page.
  • The Sort function sorts all records and reloads the first page.
  • The Unfilled Shifts row shows only shifts that employees on the loaded page can work.
  • The following elements of the user interface become unavailable:
    • The Save List as and Manage Lists options in the Favorites list.
    • The Generate drop-down list.
    • The Custom Sort button.
    • The Total row.
    • The Find Candidate function.
    • The KPI and Coverage panels.
Include Manager comments on copy

Include manager comments on copied shifts.

You can configure whether Dayforce automatically selects this checkbox when you load Schedules. To do so, go to System AdminRoles and click the Features tab. Then, next to the Schedules role feature, click the parameters configuration icon ()  and select or clear the Include Manager comments on copy - Default setting checkbox.

Display Shift Marketplace Employees

Client properties: Scheduling > Shift Marketplace (Select the checkbox)

Show Shift Marketplace employees in Schedules. When this checkbox is selected, Dayforce shows the following types of employees in the schedules grid:

  • Employees who work at the location on a primary work assignment.
  • Employees who work at the location on a secondary work assignment.
  • Employees who can pick up shifts at the location in Shift Marketplace. Depending on your Dayforce configuration, they might have primary or secondary work assignment access to the loaded location in Schedules.

Dayforce marks Shift Marketplace employees in the Employees column with the shift marketplace icon (). If an employee has a shift that was posted in Shift Marketplace, Dayforce also marks the shift with the shift marketplace icon in the schedules grid.

Display Unfilled Hours in Total (Centralized Schedules only)

Show unfilled hours in brackets next to the daily scheduled hours, which are shown in bold:

Daily scheduled hours shown in bold, with unfilled hours shown next to them in brackets.

Default Landing Pane The panel that opens by default when you open Schedules.
