Request a Leave of Absence

You can record a request for a leave of absence by submitting a Request Leave of Absence form. The fields that are available on the form can differ by country.

Important: If the Prevent Employee Termination if Future Timesheet Entries Exist checkbox is selected in System Admin > Client Properties, you can't submit the form to set the employee’s status to inactive if they have future timesheet entries.

To submit a leave of absence request:

  1. Go to People, open the employee profile, and click Forms.
  2. Click the Request Leave of Absence form.
  3. Select a status in the Status drop-down list. Depending on how Dayforce is configured, there might be several different statuses that represent a leave of absence.
  4. Enter the date that the leave takes effect in the Start Date field.
  5. Select the reason for the leave in the Reason drop-down list. Depending on how Dayforce is configured, several reasons might be shown, such as sabbatical, maternity leave, personal leave, or others.
  6. Enter the expected return to work date in the Estimated Return Date field. This field isn’t shown for employees in German pay groups.
  7. (Optional) Attach additional information to the Supporting Documents section of the form. See Attach Files to Forms.
  8. Click Submit.

For specific information about the fields available when requesting a leave of absence, see Leave Management in the HR Administration Guide.
