To record time employees worked against different projects in Timesheets, you need to record a transfer to account for the time the employee started working on the project. For example, an employee working from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM stopped their regular duties and started working on a project after their lunch break at 1:00 PM. In this scenario, the employee (or you, on their behalf) would record a transfer at 1:00 PM and select the project they worked on.
The Project field shows a drop-down list of the child projects the employee has access to after you click the field:
You can use transfers to record changes in a variety of situations, such as when an employee started working a different job assignment or in a different location during a shift. The steps to record transfers are the same. See Record Transfers .
Note: The docket and quantity fields are shown only if Dayforce is configured to show them. For more information, contact your system administrator.
Hierarchical View
Depending on how Dayforce is configured, you might be able to view a hierarchical version of the projects an employee has access to, including their parent projects. To enable this functionality, open the Options panel and select the Show Projects in Hierarchical View checkbox. See General Options.
When enabled, the Project field contains a project icon () that you can click to open a project dialog box. In the dialog box, you can search for projects and view each project the employees has access to. You can click a parent project to expand it and view its child projects:
Note: If your organization has a large number of projects, Dayforce might not load all projects by default. In this scenario, use the search field to locate your projects.
Additionally, when this view is enabled and you select a child project, Dayforce shows the child project and its top-level parent project in the Project field. In the following screenshot, the Cleanup project is selected and shown with the Renovations parent project, which is at the top of the hierarchy:
