Pay Summary Views

Dayforce shows expanded pay summaries differently depending on your selection in the View drop-down list. There are two views available: Daily and Daily Extended.

Daily Pay Summary

To view a pay summary for a specific day, select Daily. Dayforce shows the pay summary for the day specified in the As Of Date field. This is the default view in the Analyze Pay Rules slide-out panel:

Output section showing the daily view of an employee's pay summary.

In the Output section, Dayforce shows the same work details that are available when you access the Pay panel in Timesheets using the daily view.

Weekly Pay Summary

To view a weekly pay summary, select Daily Extended. Dayforce shows the week that contains the day specified in the As Of Date field and includes all worked shifts in that week:

Output section showing the weekly view of the pay summary, with rows listed for each day worked.

When this view is selected, Dayforce shows the same information that’s available when using the Daily view. However, instead of showing a single day, Dayforce shows all shifts that are available in the week that contains the day that you selected. In the Output section, Dayforce shows the same work details that are available when you access the Pay panel in Timesheets using the weekly view. You can expand or collapse each day of the week to view a daily pay summary for that day. Click the plus or minus icon beside each day in the list to expand or collapse its daily summary:

If you load a week that contains changes when using this view and click on a rule in the ruleset panel, Dayforce might show the added () or edited () flags to indicate the dates upon which the selected rule updated the employee’s pay. In the following screenshot, a daily record contains the edited flag beside it to indicate that pay details were updated that day, and its expanded work details contain the added and edited flags to highlight the specific changes:

When using the Daily Extended view, the date you select in the As Of Date field might affect what’s shown in the Output section. Consider an example where an employee works two shifts during the week of June 27: one on June 27 and another on June 28. The shift on June 27 doesn’t contain any overtime, holiday hours, or other shift details that would typically generate an update to the employee’s pay after the rule engine runs. However, the June 28 shift contains overtime hours which should be detected by the pay rule engine and highlighted as a premium in the employee’s expanded pay summary. When you select June 27 in the As Of Date field and select the Daily Extended view, Dayforce shows the employee’s pay details for the week as of June 27. This would include their basic work details, such as their clock entries, for both June 27 and 28. However, because Dayforce shows the employee’s pay details as of June 27, the overtime premium generated on June 28 isn’t shown because Dayforce has excluded pay rule processing beyond June 27. If you update the As Of Date to June 28, Dayforce shows the employee’s overtime premium because June 28 is now the calculation cut-off date. Essentially, when you use the Daily Extended view, the work details of any date that occurs after the As Of Date are shown before being processed by Dayforce’s pay rule engine. The As Of Date acts as a pay rule processing cut-off date when determining how Dayforce’s pay rule engine updates employees’ pay in the Analyze Pay Rules slide-out panel.

The Daily Extended view option is useful when viewing an expanded pay summary that contains certain rules, such as the Assign Pay Code, FLSA Overtime, and Salary Spreading rules. These pay rules run at the end of the week or calculation period. If you view an expanded pay summary containing these rules using the Daily view option, Dayforce might not show any updated pay data generated by the rules, depending on the day of the week that you select.

Note: When you use this view and an employee has a change to their pay policy in the middle of the loaded week, Dayforce shows a message above the Output section to indicate multiple pay policies for the selected week.
