In Timesheets, you can use the Mass Action function to add and edit shift and transfer details. For example, you could edit the start time of all shifts with the Sales Associate job assignment so that they start at 10:00 AM instead of 9:00 AM. You can also use the Mass Action function to resolve any exceptions that are associated with shifts.
Role feature access:
- Timesheets > Mass Action > Resolve Mass Exceptions
- Timesheets > Mass Action > Update Shifts
After you click Mass Action, Dayforce opens the Mass Action slide-out panel where you can perform mass actions. By default, any mass action that you implement applies only to the employees shown in the timesheets grid. The following functions in Timesheets affect which employees appear in the Mass Action panel, by default:
| Timesheet Function | Description |
|---|---|
| Paging | If your timesheet records span multiple pages, the Mass Action panel shows employees only from the loaded page. See Navigate Between Pages in Timesheets. |
| Favorites | The Mass Action panel shows only employees from the loaded favorite set, if applied. |
| Filters | The Mass Action panel shows only filtered employees if a filter is applied. |
| Selecting multiple timesheet cells | The Mass Action panel shows only the employees that you selected in the timesheets grid. |
For example, when you add multiple shifts, the Job Assignment setting is set to Default. This selection represents the employees who are included in the mass action by default based on your loading criteria (that is, the loaded page, your manual selections, or any filters that you applied). You can further narrow down this default selection, for example, by selecting a specific job assignment in the Job Assignment drop-down list, when applicable. When you do this, Dayforce re-evaluates each employee that you initially loaded to verify if the shift details will apply to them based on your change.
When you edit multiple shifts, some settings are set to [Same], by default. This represents how Dayforce can maintain the shift details as they were configured for any existing shifts. For example, to edit the project associated with multiple shifts but not the location, leave the Location setting as [Same] and change the Project setting from [Same] to a specific project.
If the Enable real time calculations function is active in Timesheets, the Dayforce problem validation engine runs when you mass add and mass edit shifts. When shifts have critical or error severity-level problems in the Mass Action panel, Dayforce shows the problematic shifts in the Review and Complete screen in the Rejected tab. If your mass action results in warning or informational problems for shifts, you can still complete the mass action and the problems are assigned to the shifts in the timesheets grid. If you attempt to apply a mass change to a shift with existing critical or error problems, Dayforce prevents your change. You must resolve the problems before you can apply a mass change to the shift.
Some shift attributes might be unavailable in the Mass Action panel, depending on your time entry policy configuration. For example, if your organization doesn’t track projects or labor metrics, these settings won’t appear.
