Localize Position Information

- Original Organization Designer user interface -

Localization makes it easier for everyone to use Organization Designer in the language they’re most comfortable with. You can add localizations for position names and descriptions in the languages that are enabled in your Dayforce environment.

If there’s no localization for your preferred language, Organization Designer shows the position name and description in the default language that your organization uses for Dayforce.

When someone creates a position in a language that’s not the organization’s default, that language initially becomes the default for the position. All users see that version until localizations are added for their own languages or for the organization’s default language.

When someone using a different language updates the position name or description, their changes are saved as a localization in that language. Users in the same language see that version, while everyone else continues to see the default.

After a localization is added in the organization’s default language, it becomes the version shown to users in that language, and to anyone else whose language doesn’t have its own localization. If someone updates the name or description in the default language, that localization and the base value for the position are updated and become the new default.

For example, an organization’s default language is English (US). Someone using Dayforce in French (CA) adds a position called “Caissier.” This name is added as a localization for French (CA), and all users see “Caissier” while no other localizations have been added.

Later, an English (US) user updates the name to “Cashier.” This update creates a localization for English (US), which becomes the default because English (US) is the organization’s default language. “Cashier” is shown to English (US) users, and it’s also shown to everyone whose language doesn’t have a localization.

Only users with unrestricted access to editing positions, such as administrators, can add new localizations for position names and descriptions. If you don’t have access to the additional options menu and you need to add localizations, contact your Dayforce administrator.

To add a localization:

  1. Go to Organization Designer and click the Positions tab.
  2. Find the position that you want to localize.
  3. Click the additional options menu and select Localize.
  4. Click Add.
  5. In the Language column, select the language that you want to add the localization for.
  6. Enter a name and optional description in the selected language.
  7. Click Save.
