List of Job Assignment and Compensation Change Form Settings

The Job Assignment and Compensation Change form includes settings that are divided into the following sections:

  • Work Assignment
  • Manager Assignment
  • Pay and Rates
  • Compensation Changes
  • Onboarding

You can upload documents such as performance reviews to the form in the Upload Supporting Documents section.

Access to settings in this form is controlled by the following access authorizations of the Authorizations tab in System Admin > Roles:

  • Forms - Employee Hours Information
  • Forms - Employee Pay Information
  • Forms - Employee Status Information
  • Forms - Employee Work Assignment - Primary Records
  • Forms - Management Assignment

Setting Description
Effective Date

Setting containing the following radio-button options for defining when the updates in the form become effective:

  • Today: (Default selection) Effective as of the day the form is submitted.
  • Tomorrow: Effective as of the day after the form is submitted.
  • As of: When you select this option, you can enter the date that you want the change to be effective.
Work Assignment (Section): This section displays settings related to the employee's primary work assignment, corresponding to the Work > Work Assignments screen of People.
Location

The location at which the employee works their job assignment. The Location list is automatically restricted to the locations at which the selected job assignment can be worked.

Job Assignment Title

The employee's job assignment. The list is automatically restricted to the job assignments that can be worked at the selected location.

Business Title

The title that Dayforce shows in place of the job assignment title.

Note: Dayforce shows the business title only if the Enable Business Title client property is enabled in the Employee section of the Properties tab in System Admin > Client Properties.

Full Time Equivalent

Enter a value between 0.00 and 1.00 to indicate the workload associated with this assignment. For example, a value of 1.00 represents a full-time role, while a value of 0.50 represents half-time.

Position Term

The position term associated with the assignment. For example, you could use this parameter to specify that the work assignment is temporary.

Virtual

Select the checkbox to indicate that the employee works remotely, so that Dayforce can apply taxation requirements based on the employee’s residence (or work location, if applicable).

Reason

The reason that you’re adding or editing the work assignment. For example, select Promotion to indicate that the employee was promoted to this new assignment.

Employment Indicator

The type of work associated with the assignment, such as seasonal or contractor.

Guaranteed Amount

A read-only field that displays how much the employee is guaranteed to earn working the job, regardless of the duration of the shift. It only impacts pay if the appropriate pay rules are configured in Dayforce.

Job Rate

The employee's pay rate for the work assignment.

Manager Assignment (Section): This section allows you to you to review and update the employee's current manager.
Manager Read-only field displaying the employee's current manager.
Assignment Method

Shows which method Dayforce uses to derive the employee's current manager:

  • Org: The employee's manager is derived based on their work assignment location (the employee doesn't have a direct manager).
  • Job Assignment: The employee's manager is derived based on their job assignment (the employee doesn't have a direct manager).
  • Direct: The employee's manager is directly assigned to the employee.
Direct Manager Drop-down list where you can assign the employee a direct manager or update their existing direct manager.
Pay and Rates (Section): Displays settings related to the employee's current employment status record in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People.
Pay Type

The payment type for the employee. For example, salaried or hourly. Pay types are configured in HR Admin > Pay Type.

Pay Class

The employee's category of employment such as part-time or full-time. Pay classes are configured in HR Admin > Pay Class.

Average Daily Hours

The average number of hours that the employee works daily. This value can be used in overtime calculations.

Normal Weekly Hours

The hours that an employee typically works each week.

Semi Monthly Hours (Top) The default hours for the respective first (top) and second (bottom) halves of the month.

Vacation Rate

The hourly rate that the employee is paid while on vacation.

Overtime Rate

The hourly rate that the employee is paid when working overtime.

Alternate Rate

The alternate hourly rate for the employee. Typically, the alternate rate is applied to part-time employees who earn a higher pay rate before working beyond an amount of weekly hours.

Monthly Hours The employee's average monthly hours.
Pay Grade Read-only field displaying the name of the pay grade associated with the job assignment.
Mid Read-only field automatically calculated midpoint between the minimum and maximum rates of the pay grade.
Max Read-only field displaying the highest amount someone working a job assignment assigned the pay grade should earn.
Compa-Ratio Read-only field displaying the percentage calculated as the employee’s pay amount in relation to the pay grade control point. A ratio of 100% means the employee is paid at the control point.
Min Read-only field displaying the lowest amount someone working a job assignment assigned the pay grade should earn.
Control Read only field displaying the amount that most employees earn (also known as the market rate). Not necessarily the midpoint between the minimum and maximum, it represents the ideal amount that employees working job assignments with the pay grade should earn.
Compensation Changes (Section): Allows you to update the employee's base rate or salary using the Change Total or Change by Increment methods (described in the rows below). Also allows you to view a graphical illustrations of the employee's Compensation Timeline, or a Peer Comparison of their compensation. To move between graphs, click the tab displaying the graph name.

Change Total

Radio button that you can select to enter a new base rate or salary. Select an option in the Reason drop-down list, enter the new salary or base rate in the Amount field, and fill out the Comment field.

Change by Increment

Radio button that you can select to update the employee's pay by a percentage or amount increment. Click Add and select an option in the Reason drop-down list. Select $ Amount or % Amount in the Change Type drop-down list and enter the increase amount in the Change Value field. Optionally, enter additional information in the Comment field.

Onboarding (Section) Section for assigning the employee's onboarding policy. Onboarding policies allow you to customize the employee onboarding process to suit their role in the organization. See the Onboarding Guide.

The employee's onboarding policy. Onboarding policies allow you to customize the employee onboarding process to suit their role in the organization. They are configured in Onboarding Setup > Onboarding Policy.
