Import from ProtoSchedule

After you configure a ProtoSchedule, you can use it to generate schedules in Centralized Schedules:

Role feature access: Centralized Schedules > Import ProtoSchedule

Click Generate > Import from ProtoSchedule to open the Import from ProtoSchedule wizard. The wizard contains screens for every stage that’s required to import your schedules:

  • ProtoSchedule: Select the ProtoSchedule to import.
  • Days/Weeks/Mappings: Select the locations and days of the week to import.
  • Options: Configure how Dayforce handles shifts that conflict with existing shifts and time away from work (TAFW), and select the shift details to import.

To generate schedules by importing them from ProtoSchedules:

  1. Go to Centralized Schedules and load a template.
  2. Expand the template’s grouping hierarchy to the Employee section.
  3. Click Generate > Import from ProtoSchedule. Dayforce opens the Import from ProtoSchedule wizard.
  4. In the ProtoSchedule screen, select the ProtoSchedule that you want to use and then click Next.
  5. In the Days/Weeks/Mapping screen, select the location and days to import, and the ProtoSchedule week to import from. The number of weeks that appear in the drop-down list depend on the option selected in the Duration drop-down list for the ProtoSchedule in ProtoSchedules > Manage ProtoSchedules.
  6. (Optional) To clear existing shifts on the schedule before importing the ProtoSchedule, select the Clear any centralized schedule data before import checkbox.
  7. Click Next. Dayforce opens the Options screen.
  8. In the Select Clashing Shift Option section, select an option to determine how Dayforce handles ProtoSchedule shifts that conflict with existing shifts.
  9. (Optional) Select or clear the create an unfilled shift for the dropped shift checkbox.
  10. Select an option to determine how Dayforce handles ProtoSchedule shifts that overlap with an approved TAFW period.
  11. In the Select Shift Options for Import section, select the shift details that you want imported, then click Import.
