Depending on your Dayforce configuration, you might be able to edit unfilled shifts that have already been posted.
Before You Begin: This functionality is available only if the Edit Posted Unfilled Shifts client property is enabled in System Admin > Client Properties in the Properties tab in the Scheduling section.

Edit Posted Unfilled Shifts in the Grid View
To edit posted, unfilled shifts in the schedules grid:
- Go to Schedules or Centralized Schedules and load a template.
- (Centralized Schedules only) Expand the grouping hierarchy to view scheduled shifts.
- In the [Unfilled] row, select a posted unfilled shift. You can identify if unfilled shifts are posted when they’re marked with the post unfilled schedule icon (
).
- Click the edit icon (
). The Edit Schedule dialog box opens.
- Do the following:
- Edit the unfilled shift’s details, as needed.
- Click the post unfilled schedule icon (
) to repost the unfilled shift and then click OK.
- If the Post unfilled schedule dialog box is shown, review the bidding session details and, if necessary, override them. Click Post to repost the unfilled shift. See Add and Edit Unfilled Shift Bidding Sessions.
- Click Save.
- When the schedule is ready, click Post. Posting the schedule makes it available to your employees.
Edit Posted Unfilled Shifts in the Bar View (Schedules Only)
To edit posted, unfilled shifts in the Bar View in Schedules:
- Go to Schedules and load a location.
- In the [Unfilled] row in the Bar View, locate a posted, unfilled shift. You can identify when unfilled shifts are posted if they’re marked with the post unfilled schedule icon (
).
- Click the shift. The Edit Schedule panel or section opens, depending on your Dayforce configuration.
- Do the following:
- Edit the unfilled shift’s details, as needed.
- Click the post unfilled schedule icon (
) to repost the unfilled shift and then click OK.
- If the Post unfilled schedule dialog box is shown, review the bidding session details and, if necessary, override them. Click Post to repost the unfilled shift.
- Click Save.
- When the schedule is ready, click Post. Posting the schedule makes it available to your employees.
If you edit a posted, unfilled shift but don’t save and repost it, Dayforce marks the unfilled shift with the lock icon () in the Manage Shift Bids panel:
When an unfilled shift is locked, you can’t assign it to employees or deny shift bids for the shift. Save and repost the edited, unfilled shift to unlock it.
After you award a shift bid to an employee, Dayforce adds the shift to the employee’s schedule but also adds the lock icon to indicate that the shift is locked for editing:
Save the schedule to remove the lock icon.
