Coverage Suggestions

If changes can be made to increase or decrease coverage, you can open a suggestions list that Dayforce generates and use that list to modify coverage. Hover the cursor over the cell that needs more coverage to show the suggestion list icon ():

To open the Suggested Changes dialog box, click the suggestion list icon. The above example shows the suggestion list icon for the Cashier activity in the Store zone for Monday, October 5.

The suggestion list can help you resolve coverage needs. These suggestions can include extending shifts or creating new shifts. In this example, all of the suggestions are for creating new shifts. When you select the first row and click Apply, Dayforce creates a shift for the selected employee. You can continue to apply suggestions until you’re satisfied with the coverage.

To configure options for the Suggested Changes dialog box, click Configure Option(s).

Suggested Changes dialog box settings

Setting	Description
Max Results	The maximum number of suggestions to return in the Suggested Changes dialog box. For example, a value of 10 returns no more than 10 suggestions.
Max Severity	The maximum problem severity allowed for suggestions. For example, select Warning to filter out all suggestions with the Critical severity level and include suggestions with the Warning or Information severity.

To use the suggestion list feature, we recommend selecting Enable real time calculations in the Options panel in Schedules. Select the Enable real time calculations checkbox if you want Dayforce to automatically load updates every time you open Schedules. When cleared, you can click Recalculate in Schedules to receive updates.

Note: If you’re using a browser that doesn’t support real time calculations , Dayforce doesn’t enable the Enable real time calculations checkbox by default.

If you use the suggestion list feature with the Enable real time calculations checkbox cleared, the Apply button in the Suggested Changes dialog box changes to Apply & Recalculate:

When you click Apply & Recalculate, Dayforce applies the suggestion and recalculates any changes in the schedule. To see the next group of suggestions after the recalculation is completed, click the Coverage tab and click the suggestion list icon () again.
