Configure the Session’s Bidding Windows

You configure the bidding windows for your sequential bidding session in the Sequential Bidding Configuration screen of the wizard. For more information about the settings that are available in this screen, see Sequential Bidding Configuration.

Before You Begin: This section applies only if you’re adding a sequential vacation bidding session.

To configure your sequential session’s bidding windows:

  1. In the Details panel, use the Bidding Window Start and Bidding Window End settings to specify when bidding windows should be scheduled:
    • Click the Bidding Window Start calendar icon to specify the first date on which bidding windows can be scheduled, or enter a date in the field. Dayforce populates this field with the start date of the submission round, by default.
    • Click the Bidding Window End calendar icon to specify the date after which bidding windows can no longer be scheduled, or enter a date in the field. Dayforce populates this field with the end date of the submission round, by default.
  2. Click the Earliest Start clock icon to select the earliest time that a bidding window can be scheduled on days in the submission round. Alternatively, you can enter a time in the field.
  3. Click the Latest End clock icon to select the latest time that a bidding window can be scheduled on days in the submission round. Alternatively, you can enter a time in the field.
  4. Using the Time Increment setting, enter or select a unit of time that represents the default length of the session’s bidding windows. The value that you specify is either a number of hours or days, depending on your selection in the Unit drop-down list.
  5. In the Unit drop-down list, select the time unit for the time value that you specified in the Time Increment field. The options are: Days and Hours.
  6. For example, to create a default bidding window duration of one day, enter 1 in the Time Increment field and select Days in the Unit drop-down list. To create a default bidding window duration of four and a half hours, enter 4.5 in the Time Increment field and select Hours in the Unit drop-down list.
  7. Note: When you select Hours in the Unit drop-down list, Dayforce supports bidding window lengths in quarter-hour increments.
  8. In the Days of Week section, select the corresponding checkboxes for the days of the week upon which bidding windows can be scheduled.
  9. In the Employee List section, do one of the following to create bidding windows for the employees that are included in the session:
    • Click Generate to automatically assign employees bidding windows using the default details that you configured in the Details panel. When you click Generate, the following options are available:
      • Generate for current round: Generate bidding windows using your default details only for the current round.
      • Generate for all rounds: Generate bidding windows using your default details for all rounds.
    • To manually configure bidding window durations, click the fields in the Bidding Window Start and Bidding Window End columns.
    • Important: Remember, any bidding windows that you create manually must respect the settings that you configured in the Details panel. For example, if you entered 2 in the Time Increment field and selected Hours in the Unit drop-down list to configure a default bidding window length of two hours, any bidding windows that you create manually must be two hours or more in length.
  10. (Optional) Click Export to create a CSV file containing bidding window details for the submission round.
  11. Repeat steps 1 through 8 to configure bidding windows for additional submission rounds, if available.
  12. Click Next.
