Budgeted Time

In the Budgeted Time tab, specify what budgeted time is based on in the Duration Type drop-down list:

  • Fixed: Define a specific number of hours that tasks created from this template should be completed in.
  • Location Property: Tasks created from this template have a variable number of hours. The actual amount is based on the value for a selected location property, such as a location’s square footage, multiplied by a set number of hours for the property value. So, you could define tasks that have a budget of 30 seconds per square foot and a location that is 2,000 square feet with a budget of 1,000 minutes per square foot.
  • Productivity Standard: Tasks created from this template are based on a productivity standard. Productivity standards are used to measure the amount of time a task should take to complete. For example, if a receiving task’s duration depends on the number of deliveries the location receives, select the Delivery productivity standard so that when users define a task based on this template they can specify the number of hours per delivery and the number of deliveries per day.
  • Task Index TemplateDayforce applies the selected task index template so that hours are budgeted dynamically to the appropriate locations.

After you select your duration type, you can define the labor budget for tasks created from this template.

Fixed

  • Enter the task’s labor budget in the number field. This field is set to 0.00 by default.
  • This budget is measured in the units you select from the adjacent drop-down list.
  • Select the task’s labor budget unit. By default, task labor budgets are measured in hours.

Location Property

  • Enter the task’s budgeted allotment in the number field. This field is set to 0.00 by default.
  • This allotment is measured in the units you select from the adjacent drop-down list and is multiplied by the value configured in location’s set up for the associated property value you select in the final drop-down list.
  • Select the task’s labor budget unit in the drop-down list. By default, task labor budgets are measured in hours.
  • Select which location property the task’s labor budget is based on.
  • Continuing the example above, if you wanted to create a template for tasks based on a location’s square footage, where a task should take 30 seconds to complete for each square foot in a store, you’d select Location Property in the Basis Type drop-down list, enter 30, select Second(s), and then select Store Sq Ft.

Productivity Standard

  • Enter the task’s budgeted allotment per unit of the productivity standard in the number field. This field is set to 0.00 by default.
  • This allotment is measured in the units you select from the adjacent drop-down list and is multiplied by the productivity standard you select in the final drop-down list.
  • Select the task’s labor budget unit in the drop-down list.
  • Enter the default amount of units for the productivity standard in the Default Units field.
  • For example, if the task template’s duration is based on the number of trucks in a delivery, and normally locations receive three trucks per delivery, enter 3 in this field.
  • Select which productivity standard the task’s labor budget is based on. Continuing the example above, select the Trucks productivity standard in the last drop-down list.

Task Index Template

  • Enter the task’s labor budget in the number field. This field is set to 0.00 by default.
  • This budget is measured in the units you select from the adjacent drop-down list.
  • Select the necessary template in the drop-down list. This is the template that Dayforce uses to distribute the hours and assign locations.

After you define the task template’s budgeted time, you can define how and when the template is assigned to employees in the Employee Assignments section.
