Attest Missed Breaks

If your instance of Dayforce is configured for it, managers can attest (that is, report) missed breaks for employees in the timesheet, or approve attestations made by the employee. Depending on how this functionality is configured, managers might have to submit the attestation on behalf of the employee or approve an attestation made by the employee.

Role feature access: Manager Timesheet > Break Attestation

Dayforce supports four break attestation types:

  • Employee: Only employees can submit break attestations in their timesheets. If this type of break attestation is configured, you can’t attest missed breaks for your employees in Manager Timesheet.
  • Manager: Only managers can submit break attestations on behalf of their employees.
  • Manager OR Employee: Managers and employees can submit break attestations.
  • Manager AND Employee: Both managers and employees must submit a break attestation. In this scenario, either the employee or manager submits the initial attestation and the other user submits an attestation of their own to approve the initial attestation.

Note: Managers can submit or remove only manager attestations, and they can’t submit or remove employee attestations.

Break attestation functionality is configured in the employee’s time entry policy. See Time Entry Policies in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

To attest an employee’s missed break:

  1. Go to Manager Timesheet and load an employee’s timesheet.
  2. Select the applicable timesheet row and click the down arrow. Dayforce opens a drop-down list with options.
  3. Select Manager Missed Break. Dayforce marks the timesheet row with the manager attestation icon ().
  4. Click Save.

After you select Manager Missed Break and the icon appears on the shift, you can remove the attestation by clicking Remove Missed Break in the shift’s drop-down menu.
