Add and Edit Unfilled Shift Bidding Sessions

Your instance of Dayforce might be configured with shift bidding templates that dictate which employees can bid for unfilled shifts and when they can submit bids. When this functionality is configured and you add an unfilled shift, Dayforce shows the Post unfilled schedule dialog box:

Role feature access:

  • Centralized Schedules (optional)
  • Schedules > Posted Unfilled Shifts > Mass Publish
  • Schedules > Posted Unfilled Shifts > Unfilled Shift Bidding
  • Schedules > Shift Bidding

When you post unfilled shifts for a bidding session, Dayforce derives the session’s details from the shift bidding template that’s configured for your organization. The template dictates which groups of employees are included in the session and when the groups’ employees can bid on unfilled shifts. When employees are included in a bidding session, they can submit bids only during a bid window (that is, the time range for valid bids). You can configure levels of bidding priority by setting different bid windows for different groups of employees. To do this, you might need to override the session’s default configuration and edit its details.

If there’s an active bidding session, Dayforce shows its details in the Manage Shift Bids panel, in the read-only Bidding Session section:

You can configure shift bidding sessions only for a single unfilled shift at a time. Because of this restriction, you can’t use the Mass Edit function to add multiple shifts and sessions at once. However, if you mass add unfilled shifts, you can select each one, click the edit icon, and post the unfilled shift to activate the session.

To add and, optionally, edit an unfilled shift bidding session:

  1. Go to Schedules or Centralized Schedules and load a template.
  2. (Centralized Schedules only) Expand the grouping hierarchy to view scheduled shifts.
  3. In the [Unfilled] row, select a cell and then click the add icon.
  4. In the Add Schedule dialog box that opens, configure the shift’s details.
  5. Click the post unfilled schedule icon (). The Post unfilled schedule dialog box opens.
  6. Review the bidding session details and do one of the following:
    • Click Post to post the unfilled shifts as configured for the bidding session.
    • Click the Override switch to edit the default configuration for the bidding session. Edit the session as needed:
      • Add and delete groups.
      • Edit the bid window open and close dates and times.
    • After completing your edits, click Post.
  7. Click Save.

After you post the unfilled shifts, Dayforce sends the Shift Available notification to the employees.
