How you add a single shift in Schedules depends on whether you use the Grid View or the Bar View.
Grid View
To add shifts in the Schedules Grid View:
- Go to Schedules and load a schedule.
- Do one of the following:
- To add an unfilled shift, click a cell in the [Unfilled] row.
- To add a shift for a specific employee, click a cell in their employee row.
- Click the add icon.
- In the Add Schedule dialog box that opens, configure the shift’s start time, end time, meals and breaks.
- Configure the shift’s other details. Depending on how Dayforce is configured, you can configure activities, dockets, jobs, pay codes, projects, and user-defined labor metrics.
- Click OK.
Bar View
Adding a single shift in the Bar View varies slightly, depending on the view that you use.

Click the add shift icon to open the Add Schedule slide-out panel, which contains a selectable list of employees. Employees with multiple work assignments have a hammer icon next to their name and a number indicating the number of work assignments that they have:
Their job assignment is also a drop-down list in which you can select an alternate work assignment. After selecting the employees who you want to schedule, click and drag the cursor over the schedule to add shifts for each employee:

| Employee View |
Dayforce alphabetically lists the employees and jobs that you can schedule down the side of the schedule beside the number of hours that each employee is scheduled for the week. Locate a job’s row or an employee’s row and then drag the cursor over the schedule to add a shift for that employee:
If an employee has more than one work assignment, Dayforce lists the work assignments as subsections in the employee’s row. |
| Daily Employee View | The Daily Employee View is similar to the Employee View except that you can see only the employees or unfilled shifts that are scheduled on the day of the week that you select. To schedule an employee, select them in the Add an Employee drop-down list. |
