In Dayforce, meals and breaks have a configured set of rules that dictate when you can schedule them during a shift, their duration, how many you can schedule, and which shifts are eligible to receive them. These rules are set in time entry policies, which are configured in Pay Setup > Time Entry Policy. The details of your time entry policy are already configured in Dayforce to mirror your organization’s rules regarding breaks.
When you add shifts, Dayforce automatically schedules a meal or break if the shift qualifies for one. Dayforce takes into account your organization’s time entry policy when determining when to schedule the break.
For example, if breaks must start at least 30 minutes after shifts start, but not within an hour of the shift’s end, Dayforce schedules breaks for the middle of this allowable range of time.
In Schedules, how you schedule meals and breaks depends on whether you use the Grid View or the Bar View.
