Some Dayforce forms are configured so that you can approve or reject them from your email inbox without logging in to Dayforce. If this type of form needs your approval, you’ll receive an email notification that contains the details of the form submission with Approve and Reject buttons. You can click the appropriate button to take action on the form.
Note: Authentication might be required before you can act on forms that contain sensitive information. In this case, the notification email contains a Log in button instead of the Accept and Reject buttons. After you enter your login information, Dayforce opens the form so that you can approve or reject it.
When you click Approve or Reject, a confirmation page opens in a new tab in your default browser. Click Continue to verify your decision. Dayforce shows you a message containing a timestamp for the action you took, and it informs you that you can review your submission in the Sent folder of Message Center:
In addition, for time away requests, the updated status is shown on the submitter's screen.
Actionable messages expire after a certain amount of time. If you click an expired link, an error page opens in your browser to let you know that the link is no longer valid. When this happens, you need to log in to Dayforce and go to Approvals to act on the form. You can also access actionable forms in Message Center at any time without clicking the link in your email.
If you don’t have role permissions to act on messages, when you click Approve or Reject, an error message is shown saying that you can't act on the request. This could happen if the email was forwarded to you. The following example is an error message for a time away request:
