With Intelligent Search, you can use natural language to find relevant information that your role has access to in Dayforce. If you have multiple roles, the search results include only information for the role that you're currently logged in with. You can use the search to navigate Dayforce without having to enter exact search terms.
Important: With the Intelligent Search feature enabled, Global Search is automatically disabled. If some of your employees need Global Search, you can manually disable the Intelligent Search feature by role. If you don’t see the Intelligent Search feature after it's enabled, contact Dayforce support.
The search bar is located in the Dayforce toolbar, which gives you direct access to it from all features:
If your organization has Co-Pilot enabled, the ask AI icon is shown next to the search bar, as in the previous screenshot. Click the ask AI icon to open the conversation panel and interact with Co-Pilot to find answers to your questions. See Dayforce Co-Pilot.
Search for Dayforce Features, People, or Self-Service Forms
Intelligent Search is an intuitive search that shows predictive results as you type. You can select an option from the list of suggestions or continue to enter your query. When you search, you can enter partial words, numbers, subfeatures, or actions. Search results return features, people, or self-service forms that are the closest match.
Note: You can’t search by employee numbers.
Intelligent Search shows results in a drop-down list that updates while you type your search query. You can use the All, Features, People, and Pages and Files buttons at the top of the list to filter the search results that are shown in the list. Use your mouse or keyboard to select one of the suggestions. To show the entire set of search results, click See all results or press the Enter key on your keyboard. The Search Results screen opens, and features, people, and pages and files are divided into different tabs, if applicable:
The Features tab shows both forms and features and shows the name and description for each.
The People tab shows employee details:
- Avatar: Click the avatar to open the employee card. The employee card is shown for roles that have access to the employee's card, which is based on what users are allowed to see about the person. For example, if you don’t manage a person you don’t have access to their card. If you don’t have pay information enabled, you can open a card but not see pay information.
- Name: Common name if provided, or first name and family name.
- Primary work assignment: Location, position name, or business title, if business titles are used in your Dayforce environment. Business titles aren’t shown for employees who are assigned to positions. In that case, the position name is shown.
- Business email address
- Business phone number
- Manager
- See Hierarchy: Link to view the Organization Chart.
- Go to Profile: If you're a manager, Dayforce shows this link for you to view the overview page of the employee's HR record in People.
The Pages and Files tab shows pages and files from the Hub content that you have access to.
The Ask AI button is shown if your organization has Co-Pilot enabled. Click it to open the conversation panel. Your search query starts the conversation with Co-Pilot. You can select one of Co-Pilot‘s suggestions, or you can ask it a follow-up question. See Dayforce Co-Pilot.
Search Results Are Based on What Your Role Has Access To
- Features: Features that are shown in the navigation panel that your role has access to.
- Self-Service forms: Forms in the Forms tab of Profile that your role has access to.
- People: Employees in your organization.
No Search Results
If you search for a feature or form that you don’t have access to, the search results don’t return those items. Instead, Dayforce returns items that are the closest match to what you entered for your search. If your search returns no results, Dayforce shows a message letting you know and includes a Help link that you can click to open the Dayforce Help Portal:
