You can use Global Search to access people, features, reports, and learning content from one convenient location. To open Global Search, click the magnifying glass icon in the toolbar:
The Global Search panel opens at the far right of the screen, on top of the selected feature.
You can quickly search for employees, features, reports, and learning content by typing search text in the field in the All tab. Dayforce shows matches that you have access to:
The All tab shows only sections that have matches. For example, if there are results for people, but not for features, reports, or learning, Dayforce shows only the People section.
Search for Employees
You can search for employees in the All tab and the People tab. When you click an employee in the search results, Dayforce shows their employee card.
Filter Employees
Unlike the other tabs, the People tab includes additional filters that you can use to narrow down your results. By default, Dayforce filters by status to show only active employees. The following filters are available:
- My Team (that is, all employees that you have access to or only your direct reports)
- Department
- Job
- Pay Class
- Pay Group
- Status
- Location
To set filters for your people search:
- Click the filter icon.
- In the drop-down list, select the filter that you want to add.
- Specify your filter parameters. For example, to show only employees assigned the Clerk job, click Clerk:
-
To delete filters, click the X to the far right of the filter row.
Search for Features
You can search for features in the All tab and the Features tab. When you click an item in the search results, Dayforce goes directly to that feature.
Search for Reports
You can search for reports in the All tab and the Reports tab. When you click a report in the search results, Dayforce opens the report card. The report card shows a preview of the data generated by the report. You can run the report or go to the report designer using buttons in the report card. You can also view information about the report in the following tabs of the report card:
- Preview: Shows the first 25 results of the report, according to the filters that you selected in the Filters tab.
- Details: Contains information about the report, such as the parent feature, category, topic, created by, updated by, created date, and updated date.
- Fields: Contains the names and descriptions of all of the fields (columns) in the report.
- Filters: View the report filters and enter new values for the editable ones.
- Layout: Shows the report’s default layout settings. You can't edit the layout settings here; you can change them when you run the report.
Search for Learning Content
You can search for internal courses and learning plans in the All tab and the Learning tab.
When you click an item in the search results, Dayforce goes directly to that course or learning plan, as follows:
- If you're already enrolled in the course that you selected, Dayforce goes to that course.
- If you aren't enrolled in the course that you selected, Dayforce goes to the enrollment page for the course. If the enrollment deadline has passed, Dayforce returns an error message.
- If you selected a course that is part of a learning plan, Dayforce goes to the learning plan.
Dayforce shows only active courses and learning plans.
