The Talent Factors tab of Succession Setup > Talent Review Setup shows a list of all of the talent factors that are used in talent reviews for succession planning. The Performance, Potential, Promotion Readiness, and Flight Risk talent factors are included in this list by default. You can also add custom talent factors to suit the needs of your organization.

For example, your organization might add an "Agility" talent factor that rates an employee's ability to adapt to difficult or unexpected situations. Managers rate employees for agility in their talent reviews, and then consult those ratings when assigning employees to succession plans.
You set up rating scales that are used for talent factors throughout the product (such as in Talent Profile, Talent Matrix, and Succession Planning). You can choose from all available scales currently in use by all of the other talent factors. However, you should choose a rating scale with between one and five values so that the scales are comparable in the talent matrix. The new scale is also used in reports, even for historical ratings that might have been rated using a different scale.

To add a custom talent factor:
- Go to Succession Setup > Talent Review Setup.
- In the Talent Factors tab, click Add.
- In the Name field, enter a name for the talent factor.
- (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description for the talent factor. Employees and managers can access this description from information icons.
- Note: You cannot update the description for the Flight Risk or Performance talent factors.
- In the Rating Scale field, select a rating scale from the drop-down list.
- By default the new talent factor is shown to employees. To de-activate it so it isn’t visible to users, clear its Active checkbox.
- Note: You can reactivate a talent factor at any time because related employee ratings are preserved. To permanently remove talent factors instead, select them and click Delete. You cannot delete the default talent factors but you can de-activate them.
- Click Save.
