You can create workflows in Workflow Administration > Workflow Designer. A workflow is a graphical representation of a business process that consists of objects representing the steps in the process. Workflows are created in a diagram where links between nodes illustrate the order in which the steps occur.
What a workflow does is determined both by what nodes and links are placed on the diagram, and the properties configured for each item. Each item has unique settings that determine how it functions in the workflow process. For example, in the properties of the Routing node, you can configure Dayforce to send a copy of a form to specific users.
In Workflow Designer, Dayforce lists workflows in the left sidebar under the Custom and System headings. The sidebar shows active workflows by default but you can click All to include inactive workflows. Inactive workflows have an effective end date that has been reached.
At the top of the list, you can enter all or part of the name of a workflow in the search field and press Enter to filter the list.
When you select a workflow in the list, Dayforce shows its details in the remainder of the screen:
You can click the collapse icon () at the top-right of the sidebar to hide it from the screen.
Dayforce shows the name of the workflow at the top of the screen. Below the name are the details about when the workflow was last modified and by whom. If the user who made the change is an employee, their name is shown. If you have access to view their employee card, their name is a link that you can click to open the employee card and view more details about them. The employee’s employee number might also be shown next to their name, depending on whether your Dayforce instance has the Add Employee Number to Name Display client property enabled. For non-employee users, their Dayforce user name is shown with no link.
Workflow details are divided into the Properties and Diagram tabs:
- The Properties tab shows high-level details about the workflow, like the reference code and effective date.
- The Diagram tab is where you build the workflow diagram and configure the properties of each item in the workflow.
