Before You Begin: For guidelines regarding the logical relationships between nodes as well as a description of the properties for nodes and links, see Workflow Node Properties.
To create a workflow diagram:
- Go to Workflow Administration > Workflow Designer.
- Click Add and select the Properties tab.
- Enter a name and, optionally, a description for the workflow.
- In the Effective From field, enter the earliest date when the workflow can be run.
- (Optional) In the Effective To field, enter the latest date when the workflow can be run.
- Enter a value in the Reference Code field to identify the workflow. Reference codes are used to export data to other applications. These codes must be unique and must not contain special characters.
- (Optional) In the Default Workflow Routing User field, select a default user to which workflows are routed when no appropriate user is found by a decision or routing node. By default, no value is provided and a default routing user must be specified to use this functionality.
- Open the Diagram tab and select the Start node from the palette on top, and drop it into the canvas:
-
- Select an appropriate workflow node to follow the Start node and drag it to the workflow diagram. The Start node can be followed by a Routing, Notification, Condition or Process node.
- Link the Start node to the next node as follows:
- Click an anchor point around the node that you want the link to come from. You need to click only once and you don’t need to hold the mouse down. A link arrow is shown that follows the cursor:
- Click an anchor point on the node that you want to link to. This completes the link between the nodes:
- Place the appropriate workflow nodes on the diagram and create outgoing and incoming links between them to complete the workflow. Ensure that the workflow links make logical sense and that the workflow ends with an End node.
- Click each object in the workflow, including nodes or links, and Dayforce shows a properties sidebar on the right side of the screen where you can configure the link or node properties. Configure these properties as needed:
-
- Click Save.
