Auto-End Workflows

By default, workflows are automatically ended when they’ve been inactive for more than 12 months. A message is shown in the workflow's End node history stating that the workflow was auto-ended due to 12 months of inactivity. If you want to turn off workflow auto-ending, contact your Dayforce representative.

The auto-end process runs once a day with the Workflow Processor background job, and targets workflows that meet the following criteria:

  • Not changed in the last 12 months (from the current date).
  • Not in the Queued state.
  • Not ended already (including states such as Completed, Timeout, Withdrawn, or Error).
  • Not part of a guided process or a guided process monitoring summary. Guided process workflows are exempt from auto-ending.

Auto-ended workflows are set to the Withdrawn state. A message is shown in the workflow's End node history stating that the workflow was ended due to 12 months of inactivity.
