You can configure whether candidates see legacy or enhanced employee gender options when they fill out pre-hire questionnaires.
In Recruiting Setup > Pre-Hire Questionnaire Configuration, you can select the Enable Enhanced Gender checkbox for any questionnaire template:
- When the checkbox is selected, candidates see the enhanced gender options.
- When not selected, they see the legacy gender options instead.
The Gender field must be included in the Questionnaire Fields section of the template before recruiters can include a question on gender in the pre-hire questionnaire they send to candidates.
By default, candidates answering these questionnaires with the enhanced gender options aren’t required to specify their gender information. However, they are required to specify this information with the legacy settings.
If you use custom templates, you can make it mandatory for candidates to specify their enhanced gender information when they fill out their pre-hire questionnaires. To do this, go to the custom template in Recruiting Setup > Pre-Hire Questionnaire Configuration and select the checkbox in the Required column of the Gender field.
Note: The Required checkbox isn’t selected by default, and you can’t select it for system questionnaires.
| Configuration | Candidate experience |
|---|---|
| The Enable Enhanced Gender checkbox isn’t selected (the default). | The candidate must select their gender from the legacy gender settings. |
| The Enable Enhanced Gender checkbox is selected. The Required column for the Gender field is cleared (the default). |
The candidate sees the enhanced gender options rather than the legacy gender settings. They don’t need to complete them. |
| The Enable Enhanced Gender checkbox is selected. The Required column for the Gender field is selected. (For custom templates only.) |
The candidate sees the enhanced gender options and must select at least one. If they don’t select an option, they receive an error when they try to submit the form. |
