Add Candidate Notes

Note: These instructions don't apply when you need to add notes while changing candidate statuses in the Improved Recruiter Experience. See Update Candidate Status.

To add candidate notes in Recruiting:

  1. Go to Recruiting and open the Add/View Notes dialog box for a candidate. See View Candidate Notes.
  2. Enter your note in the text box.
  3. You can tag another user in this note by entering "@" followed by the user’s name.
  4. You can also tag keywords by entering “#” followed by the keyword.See Tag Users and Keywords in Candidate Notes.
  5. You can use the following options (which are displayed when you click the text box):
    • Display to: Select an option to specify who will have access to the note. The following options are available:
      • Everyone: Visible to all users with access to the candidate. This option is selected by default.
      • Tagged People Only: Visible only to you and the users that you tagged in the note. 
      • Only Me: Visible only to you.
    • Tag Hiring Manager and Tag Recruiter: Click one or both of these buttons to automatically insert a tag with the name of the hiring manager or recruiter.
    • Note: These buttons are only displayed when you open the Add/View Notes dialog box from a job requisition. Further, the Tag Recruiter button is only displayed if there is a recruiter assigned to that job requisition.
    • Attach to: Select an option to specify whether the note will be attached to the job requisition or to the candidate’s record.
    • Note: This drop-down list is only enabled when you open the Add/View Notes dialog box from a job requisition and is used to improve filtering for candidate notes. See Filter Candidate Notes.
  6. Click Post.
