- New Organization Designer user interface -

When a position is frozen, you can’t add any occupants or make any other changes to the details of the position. The only change that you can make is to remove an occupant or revert an occupant to their previous position. All other occupant changes such as adding, converting, or swapping are unavailable when the position is frozen.

You can freeze a position for a specific period or indefinitely with no effective to date. If the position is frozen for a period with an end date and the date selected in Organization Designer is outside of the frozen date range, you can edit the position. On the other hand, if the selected date is during the frozen period, you can’t make any changes except for removing or reverting an occupant.

To freeze a position:

  1. Go to Organization DesignerPositions and select a position.
  2. If you have the edit icon in the toolstrip, click it and select the option that provides you with access to freezing positions.
  3. In the Information > Details tab, click the edit icon in the Position Details section.
  4. Toggle the Frozen switch.
  5. (Optional) Select the end date for the freeze in the Frozen Position: Effective To field.
  6. Click the save button in the toolstrip.

A label is added to the position in the position hierarchy to show that the position is frozen.
