You can delete positions in Organization Designer > Positions if they were added or created incorrectly. Positions can be deleted only if they aren't occupied and have no past or future occupants. If a position is associated with a job requisition in Recruiting, you can delete it only if the requisition is in the Canceled, Filled, or Closed status. You can’t delete a position if it’s associated with a requisition that is in the Open, On Hold, or Pending Approval status. In this case, you need to go in to Recruiting and remove the position from the requisition before you can delete the position.
When you delete a position that has others below it in the hierarchy, all of the descendant positions are also deleted. Those descendant positions must also be unoccupied and have no past or future occupants.
To delete a position:
- In Organization Designer > Positions, click the card for the position you want to delete.
- Click the additional options menu at the top right of the card, and click Delete.
- In the confirmation dialog box, click Delete Positions. The cards for the positions that you are deleting are marked as Pending Delete.
- Click Save. The cards for the deleted positions are removed from the hierarchy.
