Dayforce adjusts pay grade values for employees who have a part-time pay class and salaried pay type to accurately reflect their pay grade. It does this by multiplying each value of the pay grade by the number in the Full-Time Equivalent field of the associated work assignment in the Work > Work Assignment screen of People.

Before You Begin: For the system to perform the adjustment described in this topic, the employee's pay class must have Part-time selected in the Pay Class Group drop-down list in HR Admin > Pay Class. If this drop-down list is blank, the system doesn't perform the adjustment, even if the employee has a part-time pay class.

For example, a salaried part-time employee has a work assignment with the following pay grade values:

  • Minimum: 60,000
  • Control (market rate): 75,000
  • Midpoint: 72,500
  • Maximum: 85,000

If the employee has a full-time equivalent of 0.75 entered for their work assignment, their pay grade is displayed as follows by multiplying each value by 0.75:

  • Minimum: 45,000
  • Control (market rate): 56,250
  • Midpoint: 54,375
  • Maximum: 63,750

If the Full-Time Equivalent field isn't defined for the employee's work assignment, Dayforce performs a default calculation to determine the full-time equivalent. The following table lists the formulas that are used to calculate the full-time equivalent depending on the pay frequency of the employee's pay group.

For each pay frequency, Dayforce uses first available formula in the priority listed below. For example, for weekly pay groups, if the employee doesn't have normal weekly hours defined in their profile, Dayforce looks at the normal work hours of their pay group.

If none of the hours are available for the formulas listed, Dayforce uses a default full-time equivalent of one.

Note: Details about each field used in the formulas is provided in a separate table at the end of this topic.
