Irish employees need a Personal Public Service (PPS) number (sometimes referred to as a PPSN) to register with the Revenue Commissioners for taxation purposes. The PPSN number is always seven numbers followed by either one or two letters. The PPSN number is similar to other national ID numbers (for example, the National Insurance Number in the United Kingdom or the Social Insurance Number in Canada).
To view and update an employee’s PPSN number, go to the People feature and select the employee. In the Personal > Confidential Information screen, in the Identification section, the number shows in the Identification Number column. For more information about identification numbers, see Identification in the HR Administration Guide.
