UK Auto Update NI Category

The UK Auto Update NI Category background job automatically updates an employee's HR record when they reach an age that requires a change to their NI category. When you run this job, it checks whether any employee's age has changed in a way that places them in a new NI category. When a change is required, Dayforce automatically adds a new record to the UK NI Info section of the Payroll > Tax Definitions screen in People, as follows:

NI Category changes made in People in response to the employee's age
Situation Updated Category
Employees who reach State Pension Age C
Employees who turn 25 and are in Category H (Apprentice Under 25) A
Employees who turn 21 and are in Category M (Under 21) A
Employees who turn 16 and are in Category X (as under 16) M (Under 21)

When Dayforce updates an employee's NI category automatically, a message is shown in the applicable pay run to let the payroll administrator know that the change has been processed.
