As you work in pay runs, calculating payroll, entering checks, entering quick entries, et cetera, Dayforce performs a series of validations, such as checking that all of the required fields have values, and showing any errors or warnings for you to review and act on. There are three different message types in the Problems panel: Information, Errors, and Warnings.
Information messages are shown after you commit a pay run and represent information that might be useful to you but that does not require action; for example, Generate Online Reports Pending, or Export GL Data Completed.
Errors represent situations that must be corrected before you can finalize payroll. For example, creating a quick entry for additional bonus earnings without specifying the amount of the bonus is an error that you must fix before you can save the entry.
Warnings represent situations that the application is calling to your attention but might not require any action on your part. For example, the application warns you if an employee's status is inactive during the entire pay period but if the person is on maternity leave and should be inactive, this does not require any action.
As another example, the application displays warnings if any of the quick entries you have recorded causes an employee's earnings or deductions to exceed their limits. For example, if an employee contributes 5% of their pay to their pension plan, to a maximum of $100 per pay, recording a pension plan deduction of $150 as a quick entry would mean more than their allowed amount is being deducted.
The Problems panel includes a menu icon () in the source column to filter the messages that you want to include. For example, if you've switched from working on pay adjustments to working on quick entries, and there are still messages related to pay adjustments, you can clear the Adjustment checkbox to filter the messages off the list:
When you return to working on pay adjustments, you can select the Adjustment checkbox to add these messages back to the list.
You can click Problems in the toolstrip to hide the Problems panel or expand it again.
Export Problems
You can also click Export in the bottom right of the Problems panel to export the messages that are currently displayed to a CSV file that you can open in Microsoft Excel:
Location Column in Export File
The CSV file includes a column that displays the location of the employee who is associated with each message. This column is shown only in the export file and not the user interface of the Problems panel.
If a message in the export file is specific to a payroll entry (for example, a quick entry), the application displays the location that is associated with the entry, and if a message is general, the application displays the location of the employee's primary work assignment.
