Record of Employment (ROE)

A Record of Employment, or ROE, provides information on a Canadian employee's employment history. The ROE is an important document used by employees to apply for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits. Service Canada uses the information on the ROE to determine EI benefit eligibility, amount, and benefits duration. You can find additional details about the Record of Employment on the Service Canada website: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/programs/ei/ei-list/ei-roe.html.

Before You Begin: This section discusses ROE forms specific to Canadian employees only.

In Dayforce, ROEs are processed in the ROE sub-tab in the Payroll module, and involve these general steps:

  • Adding new ROE forms and assigning them to pay runs
  • Reviewing and filling out ROE forms
  • Submitting ROE forms electronically to Service Canada

Payroll administrators can either preview the ROE forms in the pay run, or view and print them in an employee’s record in Dayforce. Employees can view their ROE statements online in Earnings in the Dayforce employee self-service feature, or by logging in to Service Canada. The ROEs are available in Earnings on the pay date of the pay run in which the ROE form was generated.

The following topics provide more information about working with ROEs:

In the ROE sub-tab, you can also import and export ROE entries. See Overview of Importing ROEs.
