Labor Metrics in Imports and Exports

You can import and export entries that have one or more labor metrics defined. To include one or more labor metrics in an entry, you must use the following format in the Labor Metrics column of the CSV file. You must include both the labor metric type and code as follows:

"<labor metric type>":"<labor metric code>","<labor metric type>":"<labor metric code>"

In this example, the user imports the Development and Planning labor metric codes. The labor metric type for each code is included, in this example Department and Activity, respectively:

CSV import file shows formatting described in example.

Adding labor metrics to entries in an import file is optional, and entries with labor metrics are subject to the following requirements:

  • The labor metric code must be enabled for the employee's location that is defined in the entry. You can assign labor metric codes to locations in Org Setup > Labor Metrics > Labor Metric Codes.
  • Only earning entries can have labor metric codes. If a non-earning entry contains labor metric codes, the entry isn’t imported.
  • An entry cannot be assigned more than one labor metric code that belongs to the same labor metric type.
  • The same labor metric code cannot be assigned to an entry more than once.
  • Labor metric codes assigned to an entry must be effective from the earlier of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) start date or the pay period.
  • Labor metric codes assigned to an entry must be effective up until the current pay period end date.
  • If at least one labor metric code in the entry is valid, and others aren’t valid, the entry is imported with the valid codes only, and the invalid codes are ignored.
  • If no labor metric codes in an entry are valid, then the pay entry that it belongs to isn’t imported to the application.
