Import Singapore Employee Information to Generate Appendix 8A and 8B Forms

Employers of Singapore organizations must file Appendix 8A and Appendix 8B forms at year end to report the following information:

  • Any benefits in kind given to employees in the Appendix 8A forms
  • Gains or profit from employee stock options (ESOP) or an Employee Share Ownership (ESOW) plan in the Appendix 8B forms

To generate the forms, you must first import the relevant employee information as an XML file into Dayforce.

For more information about the XML file specifications, download the Dayforce Interface Specifications ZIP file and see the Singapore Payroll Appendix 8A and 8B Import Specification document. A template XML file is included in this document.

Important: If you’ve already imported data and would like to correct the data for a few employees, update the information for these employees in the original XML file and re-import the records of all employees. Note that all of the data that was previously imported will be deleted and replaced with the re-imported data.

Contact Information in Appendix 8A and 8B Forms

The contact information sections in the forms are obtained from Dayforce and don’t need to be included in the import file.

For the Appendix 8A form, employer information is obtained from fields in Org Setup > Org Payroll Setup > Legal Entity in the Payroll Parameters tab. The name of the employer is the legal entity's name.

Create the XML File

Open the XML file template in Microsoft Excel to enter the employee information.

Make sure you fill in all the fields in the XML file. In amount fields, instead of leaving the field blank, enter the number zero when there is no amount.

When you have entered the information in the template, export the XML file by clicking the Developer menu and then Export. If you don’t see the Developer tab, you can enable it in Excel in File > Options. Click Customize Ribbon, select the Developer checkbox and click OK.

When you are prompted to enter a file name, make sure the file follows these conventions:

  • For Appendix 8A forms, the file name should be Appendix8A.xml.
  • For Appendix 8B forms, the file name should be Appendix8B.xml.

Import the XML File

Before You Begin: You require access to a secure FTP site where the import files are placed in a subdirectory for the given import type.

To import the XML file that contains the employee information:

  1. Replace the .xml file extension with .ready. This file extension triggers the import process when the file is placed in the correct subfolder.
  2. Create an import folder in the Import directory in the FTP site with the following name:
    • For the Appendix 8A file, the folder name is IR8AAppendixA.
    • For the Appendix 8B file, the folder name is IR8AAppendixB.
  3. Place the import XML file in the folder you've created.
