Example of Tracking G-1 Wages

Say that you create a quick entry for a $100 taxable benefit that is subject to QPP withholding. If there are no other amounts on the payment that are subject to QPP withholdings, the $100 amount is tracked against the QPP G-1 and QPP ER G-1 tax authorities.

In the Preview tab of the Employee Preview slide-out panel in Payroll, $100 is displayed in the Limited Taxable Wages column of the QPP G-1 and QPP ER G-1 tax authorities.

Continuing this example, say that in the same payment where you added the taxable benefit, you also add regular earnings of $4,000. Because the employee's regular earnings generate a QPP withholding, the $100 taxable benefit on the same payment can no longer be tracked against the QPP G-1 and QPP ER G-1 tax authorities. Instead, this amount will be recorded in box G of the RL-1 form.

In the Preview tab, the $100 is added to the Limited Taxable Wages fields of the QPP and QPP ER tax authorities, in addition to the $4,000 of wages from the regular earning.
