Employee Work Location Overrides

In Org Setup > Org Payroll Setup > Employee Work Location Overrides, you can configure employee work location overrides using the location addresses configured in Org Setup > Org Payroll Setup > Location Addresses.

Employee jobs are associated with on-site department locations for workforce management tasks, such as timesheet approval, scheduling, and budgeting purposes. However, some employees might work remotely or in locations that aren’t listed as physical locations in your organization’s hierarchy.

Because employee taxation is based on the actual physical location where employees perform their work, you might need to enter an employee work location override for an employee who physically works in a different location than the site or on-site department work location assigned to them in Dayforce.

Note: You can apply the work location override only for employees who are part of pay groups of native payroll countries.

The Employee Work Location Overrides screen shows a list of any employee work location overrides that you have set up. Each entry has four columns:

  • Location Name: Name for the employee work location override.
  • Description: Optional description of the employee work location override.
  • Allow Legal Entity Override: Checkbox that you can select to allow the employee work location override to override a legal entity.
  • Reference Code: Field for an XRefCode for imports and exports.

There can also be two tabs for each entry:

  • Address: This tab contains address information for the employee work location override.
  • Legal Entity: This tab is shown if the Allow Legal Entity Override checkbox is selected. You can use this tab to configure a legal entity override for the work location override.

By setting up an employee work location override, you can specify the physical location where the employee works, which helps to ensure that the employee’s taxes are properly calculated based on that physical location.

For example, if an employee works out of a rented office space that isn’t one of the organization's offices, then the address of the rented office space needs to be configured as a work location override and assigned to the employee.

Say an employee works remotely from a location in Big Horn, Wyoming, but your organization doesn’t have a site or on-site department configured in Big Horn, Wyoming. You must configure an employee work location override for that employee so that the employee’s manager can assign that work location override to the employee. That way, the employee is taxed for working in Big Horn, Wyoming, as shown in the following screenshot:
