Configuring the Auto Pay Rule determines the earning that Dayforce assigns to auto pay, and it determines how to override the pay period hours that Dayforce uses to automatically calculate the pay amount per pay period.
Overriding the pay period hours is optional and should only be configured to override the pay period hours applied to employees based on their employee records.
Important: Overriding the pay period hours for employees on a semi-monthly pay frequency isn’t currently supported.
Typically, you configure the auto pay rule with qualifiers to describe which employees you want to pay using that rule. Dayforce applies the earning or overrides the pay period hours for the appropriate employee. See Payroll Policies.
Configure the Auto Pay Rule
Before You Begin: Make sure you are familiar with the general concepts about Payroll Policies and the parameters available for use with the Auto Pay Rule.
To configure an Auto Pay Rule:
- Go to Payroll Setup > Payroll Policies and expand a payroll policy.
- Click the add icon (
) and select Rule.
- Enter a name and, optionally, a description for the rule.
- Enter a start date for the rule in the Effective From field. The application only applies active rules during their effective date range.
- Verify that the Active checkbox is selected.
- In the Type drop-down list, select Auto Pay Rule.
- Configure the rule's parameters. See Auto Pay Rule.
- Click Save.
