Remote or virtual employees are authorized to work from home, or work remotely in a location that isn’t a company office.
Setting up a Canadian employee in Dayforce who works remotely involves the following steps:
- Assign a virtual work assignment to the employee’s HR record in People.
- In the Work > Work Assignments screen, you identify the work assignment as a remote position by selecting the Virtual checkbox in the Payroll section. See Add Job Work Assignments in the HR Administration Guide.
- Also see Virtual Checkbox for Canadian Employees in the HR Administration Guide.
- Determine how health taxes and taxes for provinces or territories are calculated for the virtual employee.
- Taxes for a Canadian virtual employee are based on either the work location override setting of an employee's primary work assignment, or the employer's site address.
- If you’re using an override location to calculate taxes, select the override location in the Work Location Override drop-down list in the employee’s HR record, in the Work > Work Assignments screen. See Employee Work Location Overrides.
- If you’re using the employer’s site address to calculate taxes, review the site address set up for your organization at the on-site department level in Org Setup > Org Payroll Setup > Organization.
- If you selected a work location override in the previous step, in System Admin > Client Properties, select the client property Calculate Canada Provincial and Health Tax for Virtual EE's using Work Location Only.
- Selecting the client property enables Dayforce to calculate the employee taxes based on the override location.
