Configure Sync Pay for Non-Auto Pay Employees
How to configure Sync Pay: configuration steps and their descriptions
Configuration Step Description
Enable Earnings for Non-Auto Pay Sync

In order for the application to generate a retroactive entry for a non-auto pay employee's earning, you need to mark the earning as eligible for this type of adjustment. You do this for a selected earning in the Earnings tab of Payroll Setup > Earnings and Deductions. In the General sub-tab, the application displays the Use in Pay Sync for Hourly Retros checkbox, which is cleared by default.

When you select this checkbox, and the earning occurs on or after the date in which a base rate change is back dated, the application can generate non-auto pay sync changes for this earning. If this checkbox is cleared the non-auto pay sync ignores this earning.

Important: This checkbox only controls eligibility for non-auto pay sync. It does not need to be selected for auto pay sync. In the case of auto pay sync, the application always uses the earning that is defined to pay out auto pay and the corresponding reductions via the Auto Pay Rule, regardless of whether this checkbox is selected.

Set an Alternate Earning (Optional)

When you select the Use in Pay Sync for Hourly Retros checkbox, the application displays the Alternate Earning for Retro drop-down list below it, which is cleared by default.

From this drop-down list, you can select an alternate earning that a payroll administrator can use to generate the adjustments when they run the sync process for non-auto pay employees in Payroll. For example, your organization might want to create earnings that are specifically intended for paying out regular retro adjustments on the Regular earning and overtime retro adjustments on the Overtime earning. You should select an earning of the Normal type from this drop-down list.

Enable the Sync Pay Changes Role Feature

To use this functionality, your role must have the Sync Pay Changes role feature enabled, which is located below Payroll > Pay Run Management > Quick Entry in the role feature tree.

The Sync Pay Changes role feature enables the Sync Pay Changes button in the Quick Entry tab of Payroll > Pay Run Management. When you click Sync Pay Changes, the application displays all of the available options for syncing pay, including for non-auto pay employees.

Note: While there is also a Sync Pay Changes role feature located below Payroll > Data Entry > Quick Entry in the role feature tree, the functionality for syncing retro pay for non-auto pay employees isn’t available in the Data Entry version of the Quick Entry tab.
