Australian Legal Entity Configuration

Configure Australian legal entities in Org Setup > Org Payroll Setup > Legal Entity.

Legal entity configuration for Australia can involve several stages, which are described here:

  • Create an Australian Legal Entity and adding a legal entity address.
  • Additional Legal Entity Configuration.
  • Configuring Customer Funding Identifiers.
  • Review of taxes for employees in the legal entity.

Create an Australian Legal Entity

For information on creating an Australian legal entity, see the following sections:

You can also review the taxes that are associated with employees in the legal entity. See Overview of Tax Authorities .

Enter Legal Entity Address Information

To enter address information for an Australian legal entity:

  1. Go to Org Setup > Org Payroll Setup > Legal Entity and select a legal entity.
  2. Click the Address tab.
  3. Enter information in the following fields as needed:
    • Address
    • Address Line 2
    • Zip / Postal Code
    • Country Code
    • State / Province
    • City
  4. Click Save.

Configure Legal Entity Single Touch Payroll Parameters

Important: According to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), if a legal entity is considered a related entity to other entities with different Australian Business Numbers (ABNs), and if the legal entity needs to submit Single Touch Payroll (STP) data on behalf of the other entities in the group, the related entity must obtain a business authority to lodge on their behalf.

This authorisation must be obtained prior to the initial STP submission. For detailed instructions or more information, contact the ATO or visit their website at: https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Single-Touch-Payroll/Start-reporting/STP-checklists/.

Important: Pay groups that use ConnectedPay do not use STP. If your legal entity uses ConnectedPay, do not make entries for it in the STP Parameters tab.

In the STP Parameters tab of the selected legal entity in Org Setup > Org Payroll Setup > Legal Entity, enter details about the legal entity that are sent to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) when a Single Touch Pay (STP) event occurs. This information is required for committing a pay run in Payroll. See Overview of Australian Payroll.

Information about the fields in the STP Parameters tab is available in “The STP Parameters Tab” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Overview of Tax Authorities

The Tax Authorities tab is read-only. No action is required.
