Apply AUS Superannuation Rule

You need to set up the AUS Superannuation rule to apply the legislated percentage for super guarantees. For example, the following are Superannuation rules which you can configure in the employee's payroll policy in Payroll Setup > Payroll Policies.

Before You Begin: See Overview of Superannuation.

  • Superannuation July 2022. Updates the default rate to 10.5% as of 1 July 2022
  • Superannuation Jul 2021. Updates the default rate to 10% as of 1 July 2021
  • Superannuation Jan 2018 - June 2021. The default rate of 9.5% applies to dates up to 30 June 2021

These rules generate the Superannuation Employer memo deduction for employees who have this payroll policy. Depending on the Superannuation rule date you select, It applies the default rate of 10% or 9.5% of an employee's wages. This includes wages for earnings that have the Superannuation checkbox selected in the Earnings tab of Payroll Setup > Earnings and Deductions, in the Tax and Compliance > Australia tab.

Payroll policy rules must be applied in a specific order. You must make sure that you configure a payroll policy that includes superannuation to ensure that the Apply AUS Superannuation Rule is applied in the following order:

  • After the Auto Pay Rule or the Apply Earnings Rule
  • Before the Apply AUS Taxes Rule and Apply Deductions Rule

The following is an example of rule ordering in an Australian payroll policy in Payroll Setup > Payroll Policies:

Under the Rules and Qualifiers feature, the default tab is expanded and some rules are displayed.
