Create Onboarding Policies

Role feature access: Onboarding Setup > Onboarding Policy

To create an onboarding policy:

  1. Go to Onboarding Setup > Onboarding Policy.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter a name for the policy.
  4. (Optional) Enter a description for the policy.
  5. Enter a reference code for the policy.
  6. (For Internal Hires Only) In the Internal Hire Role drop-down list, select the role to assign to internal employees. This will be their secondary role until the end of the onboarding period. This means that when the internal employee logs in to Dayforce, they can choose this role or their usual role.
  7. If the onboarding policy expires, specify the expiry date in the Effective End field.
  8. In the Onboarding Duration field, specify the number of days after the employee's first day that the onboarding period ends. This reflects the number of days the onboarding period is available to the new employee.
  9. (Optional) To make this policy the default, select the Make it Default checkbox. The default policy is automatically assigned to any users who aren't already assigned one but are assigned access to Getting Started.
  10. The application adds [Default] to the start of the default policy name so that you can easily identify it.
  11. Important: Don’t select the Is Published checkbox at this time.
  12. Click Save.

After you create an onboarding policy, you need to further configure the policy by adding sections that will appear in the employees' Getting Started screen. See Configure Onboarding Policies.

Note: You can copy onboarding policies you've already configured. In the sidebar, select a policy and click Copy. The new policy will be selected in the sidebar with "copy" added to its name, which you can change to something more meaningful.
