Assign Onboarding Policies in the People Feature

You can assign onboarding policies to new employees in the People feature.

Role feature access: Application Container > People > Onboarding > Onboarding Policies

To assign an onboarding policy in People:

  1. Go to People, open the employee profile, and click Onboarding > Onboarding Policies.
  2. Click Add.
  3. In the Onboarding Policy drop-down list, select the policy that you want to assign.
  4. In the Onboarding Period Start and Onboarding Period End fields, specify the effective dates for the policy assignment.
  5. Onboarding employees can't access and complete tasks in Getting Started until their onboarding period start date. Before this date, they can access Getting Started sections that provide information, such as Welcome Message and Resources, but they can't see Getting Started sections that provide tasks to complete, such as Onboarding Forms and Employee Checklists. Further, they don't receive onboarding notifications until their onboarding period start date.
  6. Important: The date in the Onboarding Period End field must be earlier than 2050.
  7. If the employee is an internal employee (that is, they are transferring from one department or team to another), select the Is Internal Hire checkbox. When this checkbox is selected, Dayforce automatically hides any content in Getting Started that isn't enabled for internal employees.
  8. Click Save.

Note: The EmployeeOnboardingPolicyAudit audit table is available to review changes to employee onboarding policy assignments made in Onboarding > Onboarding Policies in People.
