You configure advanced properties for internal courses in the Advanced Properties tab of a course in Learning Setup > Courses and Learning Plans > Courses.
To configure advanced settings for an internal course, configure the settings in the various tabs and click Save Changes.
The advanced settings for courses are divided across a number of tabs, each of which is discussed in a separate table below.
Details Tab
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Selected Category | Select a category from the drop-down list to group this course with other, similar courses. |
Course Language | Select the language that the course is offered in. |
Channels | Select the channels that the course should be displayed in. |
Credits (CEUs) | If users should receive credits upon completion of the course, enter the number of credits they receive. |
Navigation Policy | Select an option for how users navigate the course's content. |
Self-Unenrollment | Select the appropriate checkboxes depending on whether users should be able to un-enroll themselves from the course and, if so, whether they should still be able to un-enroll themselves if they've already completed the course. |
Maximum Attempts | To limit users to a certain number of attempts at completing this course, enter a number in this field. When the field is blank, users have unlimited attempts to complete the course successfully. |
Time Options Tab
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Start Date | Use this setting to specify the first day the course is available. |
End Date | Use this setting to specify the last day the course is available. |
Soft Deadline |
Select the appropriate checkboxes to assign the course a custom deadline and determine whether users can still access the course after their enrollment or the course end date have passed. Note: If you select the Allow users to enter an E-Learning course even if the enrollment validity or course end date is expired checkbox, then this course won’t be locked after the employee course enrollment deadline is reached. Instead, employees will still have access to the course under Learning > Courses. |
Days of Validity | Use these settings to configure the course to only be available for a certain number of days after the first time the user accesses it. |
Average Time for Course | Use the fields provided to indicate the average amount of time it takes users to complete the course. |
Certificates Tab
Setting | Description |

Select Certificate Template | If users are awarded a certificate for completing the course, select a template in the drop-down list. See Certificate Templates for Course Certificates. |
Course Player Tab
Setting | Description |

Course autoplay | Use the checkboxes to define whether course content plays automatically. |
Background image | Use these settings to configure Dayforce to display a background for the course. |
Course Starting View | Use these settings to define what learners see when they open the course. |
Table of contents default visibility | Use these settings to specify whether Dayforce displays a table of contents when users enter the course. |
Social & Rating Tab
Setting | Description |

Social Sharing | Use these settings to specify whether users can share courses on social media and, if so, which platforms are supported. |
Rating | Use these settings to specify whether users can rate courses. |
Score Tab
Setting | Description |

Initial course score calculation | Select an option to define whether Dayforce generates an initial score for the course. |
Course final score calculation (Bookmark) | Select an option to define if and how the course is scored when users complete it (using the score for a learning object, the sum of all scores, or the average of all scores). |
Additional Fields
The Additional Fields tab shows a list of all of the fields that you’ve created. Fill out the fields that you want to show for this course and fill in the relevant information. If you don’t fill the additional field value in the course Advanced Properties area, they won’t be visible in the course catalog and in the course table, when the dedicated column is enabled.
When you’re finished, click Save Changes.
