Enabling a Disabled User Account

A user’s account is disabled if the user attempts to:

  • Answer your secret questions incorrectly too many times.

  • Enter an incorrect security code too many times.

  • Enter an incorrect MFA token too many times.

  • Fail to authenticate using Multifactor Authentication too many times, including too many failed password attempts.

  • If the user has not logged into IAM in the last 180 days.

When you enable the user account, select the option to send a Welcome email. The Welcome email is the same email as the one users received when their account was first created. The following is an example of the Welcome email.

The key difference between sending a Welcome Email and using the Send Security Code is that the Welcome Email provides the user ID and requires the user request a security code as though they were a new user. The Send Security Code feature does not provide the user ID, it simply sends the security code email to the user.

To enable a user’s disabled account:

  1. Click the Users button on the Home page.
  2. On the Users page, search for and select the user account you want to enable.
  3. In the Properties section, click Enabled.
  4. In the Account Reset and Event Email Options section, click Send Welcome Email.
  5. Click Save.
