Data Items in User Roles

You can assign data items, such as PSIDs and FEINs, to user defined data profiles and then assign the user defined data profiles to role attributes in user accounts.

For example, if your company uses DaaS and a user has a partner application customer role for one or both these partner applications, you can assign different PSIDs to user defined data profiles and then assign the data profiles to the user.

To illustrate, Dayforce may set up the following PSIDs for Palmetto and grant access to them to Sara, the IAM Customer Admin:

  • PLM281
  • PLM350
  • PLM881
  • PLM371

Sara or the IAM Customer Admin can then set up user defined data profiles. Sara creates 3 user defined data profiles, naming them, 1, 2, and 3.

In user defined data profile 1, Sara adds the PLM281 and PLM350 PSIDs. In user defined data profile 2, Sara adds the PLM881 PSID. In user defined data profile 3, Sara add the PLM371 PSID.

When Sara sets up Lucy’s user account, she assigns Lucy the roles of DaaS Cust Admin and Powerpay Cust User, and assigns the appropriate role attributes for each role. Sara then assigns data profile 1 to the role attributes for the DaaS Customer Admin role and assigns data profile 2 to the role attributes for the Powerpay Cust User role.

This grants Lucy access to the specific PSIDs in user defined data profile 1 and user defined data profile 2 based on her roles of DaaS Cust Admin and Powerpay Cust User and the assignment of user defined data profiles 1 and 2. Lucy does not have access to the PSIDs in user defined data profile 3.

As your company’s data items change, you will need to update the data items that are available to users. Grouping them into user defined data profiles and assigning those profiles to role attributes for user accounts simplifies the process of keeping data items updated.
